Kia Ora! Kamusta! Hello! I am Whaea Lovely. I live in a tiny home with my partner Marcus and our dog, who still thinks she can fit on my lap. My family is from the Philippines, but I was born in Saudi Arabia and have spent most of my life in New Zealand. I enjoy reading, travelling and baking in my spare time.
Before coming to Kaiaua School, I worked as a digital media specialist teacher in Auckland, where I also taught for several years in the senior primary. My journey with young people began with volunteering at Sunday school at my church. Then, I went to manage an afterschool and holiday programme for several years, which eventually led me to pursue a Master’s in Teaching and Learning.
I believe that it takes a village to raise a child so I hope you feel welcomed and heard when you come see me, I will be ready. He waka eke noa, we are all in this canoe together.
